This was a small addition and kitchen remodel in the Olympic Manor neighborhood. The house has a stunning view of Puget Sound, which the original kitchen did not take advantage of. The remodel remedied that by removing the upper cabinets and adding many large windows. The wall between the kitchen and eating nook was removed to allow space for a new peninsula, and this, in combination with a small addition to the footprint, provided a net increase in available work surface and storage space. The mahogany cabinetry matches the existing built-in MCM cabinetry in the living and dining rooms.
The new corner windows allow a view from the outdoor terrace to the Sound beyond.
